I have realized lately, that I’m, well, pissed off! I’m fucking mad, about the Last Eight Years, about inconsiderate parkers, about people who put their feet up on the subway, about a whole host of shit. While I’d like to think that I am a loving, giving, selfless person — people actually say these things of me, I sometimes I wonder, if really, I’m just an impatient, selfish bastard. I don’t like to be inconvenienced, I hate incompetence, I loathe blatant ignorance, and I have zero tolerance for apathetic bandwagoners who parade themselves about as intellectuals. And sometimes I just can’t get over how stupid American’s can actually be.

For those ethnocentric readers, who are thinking, well, why don’t you just leave then? — First let me say, Fuck You!

And 2nd, ultimately, I love my fucked up country, I do, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s fucked up, been fucked, and unless President Obama can do something to pull America’s head out of its own ass (time will tell), may stay fucked up.

With that said, I do have hope. I do believe in the power of humanity and the ability for Americans to get it together and do better, be better. I have travelled  to 19 countries and have seen first-hand the global imprint our culture is leaving behind and have always maintained that if we could get certain issues right at home in America, the ripple effect would be powerful enough to change humanity. I just don’t see how we are going to do that as long as people refuse to think for themselves, acknowledge when we are wrong, or learn from the multitude of our mistakes. That frustrates me and so…

This blog is my response, me throwing my television out a fifth floor window and yelling, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!” It will contain my unapologetic take on things from politics, pop culture, art (in its many forms) and whatever else I deem response worthy. My grumblings will often be irreverent, as am I, and they will most likely inspire some and greatly offend others…what to do? If nothing else The Bitter Optimist should provide plenty of food for thought and intellectual debate on a number of random and not so random topics…
